How “Rue David Bowie” Came to Be
The mayor of the 13th arrondissement, Jérôme Coumet, had the idea of a “Rue David Bowie” since 2020. The idea was finally brought to life on January 8 this year, which would have been the singer’s 77th birthday. The street was unveiled along with a special concert inspired by the singer’s first performance in Paris that took place in 1965. An exhibition was also held at the town hall.
Of course, many fans came to honor their favorite artist, and some even shed some tears. One woman, who had been a fan for over 30 years, said the ceremony truly moved her. She also shared she wanted to buy a house on this street just so she could see the sign every day.
